OCTOBER, THE month designated as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” is coming to a close, and with it, the many articles that have been written, along with testimonials from individual breast cancer survivors.
It is great that in today’s society, so many people are able to claim that they are now cancer free and are able to present themselves to the media, be it television or the press.
Unfortunately, breast cancer does not always just stay “breast cancer.” Aggressive cancers have a way of metastasizing, spreading to other locations within the human body, and what started out as breast cancer becomes rampant in the liver, lymph nodes, the bones, or other vital organs.
I have been fighting breast cancer top dating sites since 2000, and the word “remission” does not seem to exist in my vocabulary. Just when you think that the cancer cells are under control, they flare up again, and your battle starts anew.
The one thing, however, that seems to be missing from all the write-ups and reports are the side effects that one could get from chemotherapy treatments, such as Taxol, which can give you peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage).
The nerve endings in your feet and hands get damaged, and once they are damaged, you will suffer with endless tingling in your feet and hands, and poor navigation as far as your walking is concerned.
Why can’t the medical profession zero in on that, rather than individual companies trying to sell you their product, claiming to make you well again.
One recent write up in The Daily Review stated that a 20-year study showed research has done little to improve the cure rate for breast cancer.
I would like to be more optimistic than that and say yes it can be done.
Ten years is a long fight to keep cancer under control. It is one of the hardest battles a woman can face.
But maybe, just maybe, there is truly a light at the end of the long tunnel and we can say “I am a true survivor.”

LIVERPOOL hit back at the critics today after avoiding the nation’s list of car crime shame.
Despite being the butt of Britain’s stolen hub cab jokes for years – the city failed to appear in the dreaded top 20.
Moneysuper market.com today revealed its annual table of hotspots where motorists made the most claims for car theft.
Top of the list was Chislehurst – a wealthy south London suburb where 3.82% of people claimed their car was stolen or raided.
Cities including Sheffield, Cardiff, Leeds and Manchester also featured – with two Manchester areas in the top 20.
Shamed Essex towns Romford and Ilford both featured three times in the league table.
The figures were taken from insurance quotes made between September 2008 and August 2009.
Merseyside avoided the top 20, with Halewood and the surrounding area making the region’s first appearance in 44th.
The company said 2.58% of motorists living in the L26 area had claimed in the past for their car being stolen or burgled.
Only areas with more than 100 insurance claims were included in the website’s statistics.
Merseyside Police temporary superintendent Gary Hilton said he was unsurprised Merseyside was absent from the top 20.
He credited the force’s Total War on Crime which launched across Merseyside in 2006.
He said: “Comedians like to joke that they go on holiday to Liverpool to visit their hub caps, but we new york auto insurance quotes have known for some time that both car theft and theft from cars has fallen. In fact, there has been a 46% drop in those crimes in the past three years.”
He said the force used several methods to dissuade would-be criminals from stealing cars.
These include planting trackers inside vehicles and placing them in high crime areas to trace those who steal them.
Similarly, number plate readers installed across the city mean officers can quickly track and recover stolen cars.
Supt Hilton said: “We focus on denying criminals the use of the road and maximising every opportunity to identify those responsible, with finger printing, DNA and using CCTV.”

With savory broths and soulful flavors, caledonia pizza ethnic soups capture consumers’ affection.
Chicken soup still reigns supreme on patient menus at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. It’s a different story, however, in the hospital’s eight bustling cafeterias for employees and visitors.
There, the classic American feel-better soup’s popularity is challenged by the likes of Lebanese Vegetable, Thai Chicken Rice, Italian Pasta e Fagiole and Racy Red Lentil, an Indian-inspired recipe with cumin, fennel, ginger and garlic. The main reason for the global approach: growing consumer interest

VAN THE NEW MAN
White Van Man is not what he was, according to research conducted by car, motorbike and van insurer Express Insurance.
Since the expression was coined by radio presenter Sarah Kennedy in 1997, it seems that members of Britain’s most hated species of road users have been cleaning up their act.
Far from being the fry-up scoffing, chainsmoking caricatures of popular repute, it seems that van drivers are – astonishingly – just like the rest of us! The new survey reveals that only 8per cent of those polled said they had to start the day with a cooked breakfast, just 27per cent smoke and spending time with the family was the number one pastime.
Some things don’t change. Football remains the favourite sport ahead of rugby pennsylvania auto insurance quotes and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and action and comedy “lms continue to be streets ahead of costume dramas and romantic comedies.
CLASSY COUPE
Peugeot has confirmed that its muchadmired RCZ Coupe, which was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, is to go on sale in the UK from April next year and will be priced at GBP22,200.
Billed as the affordable supercar, the RCZ will be available with a 200bhp turbocharged petrol engine, will cover 0 to 62 mph in 7.6 seconds and 50 to 75 mph in fifth gear in 6.5 seconds. Top speed is expected to be just a little short of 150 mph as Peugeot makes a determined bid to take on the Audi TT, the RCZ’s most obvious rival.
Anyone who can’t wait until next April can get a sneak preview of the RCZ at MPH The Prestige & Performance Motor Show from November 5- 8 at Earls Court, London, and November 12-15 at the NEC, Birmingham.
TESTING TIMES
With the UK driving test set to be overhauled in the near future, Which? Car has come to the conclusion that most of us shouldn’t be on the road anyway.
Under the watchful eye of the UK’s assistant chief driving examiner Bob Millard, the magazine asked five drivers between the ages of 21 and 64 to re-sit their tests – and three of them failed. Curiously enough, the oldest of the bunch, 64-year-old Jim Hart, passed with ease, despite many years in which to accumulate bad habits, while the youngest, 21-year-old Emily Wells, failed with 17 standard faults.
Claire Evans, 44, fared the best of the bunch, passing with only nine driving faults.
This was something of a relief for Which?
Car as she just happens to be the deputy editor.

Damage in Aging Process
Expands Chaperone Regulation Technologys Potential Applications
and Enhances Partnering Opportunities
LOS ANGELES — CytRx Corporation (NASDAQ:CYTR), a biopharmaceutical company and
a leader in molecular chaperone regulation technology, today announced
that a paper published in the peer-reviewed journal Gerontology

THIS STRIKING photograph of the M62 near Huddersfield was taken in the early evening high up from Scammonden Bridge.
It was captured by amateur photographer Paul Sykes from Bradley whose parents live at Scammonden.
And he gave us an insight into the tricks of the trade.
“It was taken early evening in the rush hour on the B6114 right in the middle of Scammonden Bridge, just as the motorway lights were coming on,” said Paul. “I took a series of 15 second shots to blur the lights and then layer them together.
“I think it is composed of six or seven pictures. I am new to photography art photography, but I was pleased with the result.” He added: “The camera used was my Olympus E-410 DSLR on a tripod. The wind was gusting so strongly – if I had let go of the tripod it would have blown over the edge so I am surprised at the detail.” We have had some fantastic photographs sent in – and please keep them coming.
If your eye has been caught by a landscape, sunny faces, a community event or a great building then send those images in too.
We are always keen to celebrate the town’s achievements, its spirit and its people
