IN the small island community, everyone thought they knew everyone else. But a nude calendar has sparked a frantic guessing game.
It features 120 Shetlanders baring everything but their faces in support of a cancer charity – and the identities of the nude models is the main topic of island conversation.
Unforgettable Shetland comprises nature photography a range of images taken at scenic spots, each featuring a variety of scantily-clad locals.
Two young female shoppers in Lerwick town centre wear only wellies and woolly bunnets. A crofter by his cottage, clad in tank top and hat, has his bemused sheepdog for company.
Women islanders push a boat out to sea, again wearing only Wellingtons and woolly hats. The silhouette of a naked woman in a Viking helmet looks out over the sea. A group of 20 naked islanders pass a beauty spot on their motorbikes.
The 2010 calendar is in aid of the CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North) appeal to build a new cancer support centre in Aberdeen.
Local photographer Ivan Hawick had 2,000 calendars and 5,000 postcards printed in a bid to raise more than [pounds sterling]20,000 for CLAN – and almost every single one has been sold.
Mr Hawick, 39, said finding models had not been difficult. In fact, he was swamped with offers from both sexes.
He added: ‘The calendar has just gone crazy. There are only a few left. It features local folk with ordinary jobs. Everybody is having great fun trying to work out who’s in the photographs
